Abstract

In order to investigate the degree of awareness and acceptance to GM food and the attitude to marking systems and governmental supervision about GM food. Through the questionnaire survey, 150 university students’ recognition of GM food (genetically modified food) was investigated in north college town of Zhengzhou. The results showed that the students had somewhat known about GM food; electronic media had already been become a very valuable source of information of GM food; For safety, most students were cautious about GM food, and paid more attention to label food in order to confirm whether the food contains genetically modified ingredients; it was universally acknowledged that governmental supervision about GM food should be strengthened, the stringent management for marking systems about GM food should be worked out, the right to know, and the right to choose of consumer should be protected.
