Patent Analysis and Countermeasure Study of Fishery Equipment Research Institutes in China

Abstract

The objective of this paper was to analyze the status of patent development and technical innovation capability of China"s fishery equipment research institutions. In this article, taking Fishery Machinery and Instrument Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Fishery Science as an example, using PatSnap platform and the method of bibliometrics, we analyzed the patent types, patent application quantity, foreign patent application, patent cooperation ability, patent technology field, legal status and key patents. The results showed that the main patent type was invention patent, and the number of patent applications had grown rapidly in this research institution. However, foreign patent applications were less and the proportion of valid patents was not high. Besides, patent cooperation was mainly through other universities or research institutes, followed by enterprises. The patent advantages were focus on net cage, automatic, fish, purge, pond; recycled water, remove, seawater; biological, water body, purification; monitor, test methods, life raft; jet, vacuum; return cabin, marine, compensation, hydraulic and so on. In view of current problems, the authors suggested that this institution should strengthen collaborative innovation and international cooperation, and improve survival rate as well as conversion rate of patents.
