Growth Regulator Affecting Growth and Development of Maize Varieties Under Different Densities

Abstract

The objective is to study the effects of plant growth regulator Yu- huang- jin on growth and development of different maize varieties at jointing stage. Three varieties‘M753’,‘pilot 6322’and ‘kws3564’were used as materials, by foliar spraying plant growth regulator Yu-huang-jin at jointing stage (8 leaves stage), 9 indexes were investigated including plant height and the seed rate and so on. At the density of 135000 plants/hm2, the seed rate of‘M753’was significantly higher than those of the other varieties. At the same time, plant height, ear height, leaf length and leaf width decreased significantly. Taken together, foliar spraying plant growth regulator Yu-huang-jin at jointing stage could reduce plant height, ear height, leaf length and leaf width obviously, and optimize plant type and increase the seed rate.
