Abstract

High-throughput sequencing technology is able to detect a parallel of DNA molecule sequence from ten hundreds to millions as a symbol. Currently, it has been widely applied in various fields. In order to illuminate the application prospects of high-throughput sequencing technology in dairy product microbial diversity research, this article gave a summarization and introduction of principles and advantages of common high-throughput sequencing technology, including Solexa, 454, SOLID, and Ion Torrent. We reviewed the advances in high-throughput sequencing techniques’ application in the latest research of dairy product microbial species diversity, and pointed out the difficulties in processing huge data by high-throughput sequencing technology. In the end, we analyzed and forecasted the development tendency of high-throughput sequencing technology in dairy product microbial diversity.
