Abstract

In order to entirely understand the cold stress adaptability of Hevea brasiliensis, 1675 1981’IRRDB accessions and 215 Wickham clones were investigated in the field germplasm pool after the typical advective cold damage between 2007 and 2008, with the one by one investigation, identification of chilling injury in seeding stage and classification methods. The results showed that there were just 19.07% Wickham clones with the average level of chilling injury below 1 rank, whereas 55% 1981’IRRDB wild Hevea accessions showed a certain degree of cold stress tolerance which indicated that there were quite amount of gene for cold tolerance, especially the accessions which came from Rodonia, it could be a valuable group screening for cold resistance.
