PRESENT SITUATION OF FERTILIZER APPLICATION ON SPRING MAIZE IN NORTHEAST CHINA

Abstract

433 farmer’s investigations in Northeast China were analyzed to understand present situation of fertilizer applying on spring maize. The results shown that, the average application rate of N, P2O5 and K2O was 207 kg/hm2, 100 kg/hm2 and 65 kg/hm2 respectively, the proportion of fertilizer (N:P2O5:K2O) on spring maize is 1:0.5:0.3;there are 33% of farmers who applied high nitrogen concentration fertilizer, but only 6% applied organic fertilizer, while those who applied top-dressing were 65%. 69% farmers determine fertilizer application based on their experience, 37% based on field production, and only 3% accord to technical manuals.
