The coordinating urban and rural development is an effective way to promote all-round development of the rural economy and solve the problems facing agriculture, rural areas and farmers. The ratio of the incomes of urban and rural residents and the ratio of the Engel coefficient for urban and rural residents and the ratio of the consumption level of urban and rural residents were selected to analyze the coordinating urban and rural development level in Shandong Province. We’ve found that the coordinating urban and rural development level were the highest in Shandong Peninsula, with Qingdao being the most prominent，the coordinating urban and rural development level were higher in central Shandong, with Zibo, Laiwu being the most prominent, the coordinating urban and rural development level were low in the west of Shandong with Dezhou, Liaocheng being the most prominent. Then the differences of the coordinating urban and rural development level were explored. Finally some suggestions were put forward to speed up the coordinating urban and rural development.
