Abstract

Iris lactea pall. var. chinenehsis Koidz is a wild ground cover plant widespread in china, Which are cultivated in different localities in Qinghai province. Domestication and observation revealed that it blossoms in May with 3~4 weeks and fresh white flowers. As its seeds are very stiff and difficult to sprout, so it must be disposed before seed. It mainly germinated by storage in snow,dip in warm water and chemical reagent. The first method was the most effective. The life history of Iris lactea pall.var. chinenehsis Koidz in different localities were 229~269 days. Different regions had different environmental conditions, including the climate, soil, vegetation etc., The life history of Iris lactea pall.var. chinenehsis Koidz varied greatly, and the life history of the plant decreased with elevation. The plant was drowning tolerant, drought and tread tolerant and could be used as a promising material in garden landscape.
