To enrich resources of rice germplasm in cold regions, 41 rice varieties or lines from GUVA were planted and evaluated on maturity, blast resistance, cold tolerance and plant types in cold region for the first time. The appraisal showed that the varieties or lines generally performed rather late maturity, high blast resistance, high cold tolerance and ideal plant types, indicating that some varieties or lines with earlier maturity, blast resistance, cold tolerance and ideal plant types should be used in rice breeding to broaden the genetic background of rice germplasm in cold regions.
