Ginger(Zingber officinale Rosc)is an important economic crop and can be used as flavoring, spices, medicine and so on. It is vegetatively propagated through underground rhizomes, with a very low multiplication rate. Because diseases are mainly transmitted by rhizomes propagated every year, the production of disease-free clones with a rapid multiplication rate is necessary for the successful cultivation of this crop. The use of tissue culture for the in vitro propagation of ginger can successfully solve these problems. Through testing the physiological indices of ginger transplants in different medium, we found the optimum medium. The results showed that the optimum disinfection minute of explant with HgC12(0.1%) was 10 minutes and the optimum medium of transplants was perlite:vermiculite=1:1.
