Bacillus thuringiensis, a widely distributed Gram-positive, spore-forming, aerobic bacterium, has been the most used biological pesticide due to its specific activity, against target insects with environmental safety. In recent years, Bt has been tremendously applied in other fields. The article reviews some aspects of the microbiology of Bt and the use of Bt in animal diseases control.
