The effect of different nitrogen rates on growth and Development, yield and quality of yellow sun-cured tobacco was studied during the growth period. The result showed that with the increase of nitrogen applied rates, the height, stem encloses and the number of valuable leaves increased. Under the nitrogen applied of 180kg/hm2, the dry matter accumulation, yield and quality increased with the increase of nitrogen rates, and then decrease. During the whole period of growth, dry matter accumulating similar to the S curve. The accumulation to nitrogen, potassium increased at first and then decreased on the whole, the accumulation of the phosphorus has been presenting the trend increased all the time. The application of different nitrogen has a great effect on chemical composition of tobacco leaves. As a whole, the best nitrogen rates is 180 kg/hm2 on yellow sun–cured tobacco of NingXiang.
