This paper briefly introduces the current research and development of potato breeding for qualities in China. In the mean time, the present problems of the quality traits in potato varieties and building potato breeding objectives on improving qualities are being discussed. When the current research and utilization of potato germplasm on quality traits were analyzed, the corresponding suggestions to support the development of potato breeding for quality in China were put forward.
