This article summarized the latest progress in grape tetraploid induced with colchicines. The impact factors and main inducing methods with colchicines were discussed. The characteristics of induced tetraploid grapvines in morphology, histology, sporo-pollen, cytology, molecular biology, physiology and biochemistry were described. The methods for tetraploid identification were also presented. The current problems and future research aspects were discussed for grape ployploid breeding.
