Abstract

A plysaccharide fraction, ACPS, was obtained from fruit bodies of Agrocybe aegerita following extraction with hot water, protein removal by the Sevage method, ethanol precipitation, and Sephadex G-100 and DEAE-Sephadex chromatography. Analysis of the chemical structure of ACPS by thin-layer chromatography, HPLC and IR spectrometry revealed an acidic polysaccharide with a molecular mass of 11863. The polysaccharide, reducing sugar and uronic acid contents were 91.09%, 10.05% and 4.73%, respectively. Intraperitoneal administration of ACPS to mice significantly increased the spleen weight, the phagocytic rate and phagocytic index, thereby indicating a promoting effect on the immune function.
